Girl Scout Journeys
Discover, Connect, Take Action!

Green Meadows Farm would love to be a part of your Girl Scouts’ Journey. We offer education on a unique mix of topics including: organic farming, animal care, using resources wisely, taking care of your world, healthy living, and community. We can work with leaders and scouts to customize a visit to enhance Journeys such as: "Between Earth and Sky", "WOW! Wonders of Water", "Get Moving!", and "Sow What?"

Most customized Journey visits start at $80 for 1-10 scouts ($8 for each additional scout beyond 10) and are approximately 90 min. To book a program please click here to contact our educator.

Girl Scout Badges

Daisy- Green Petal Badge – Use your resources wisely – Come see how, as an organic farm, we use our resources wisely through composting, smart watering, and the multiple roles of our animals. All scouts will have a chance to be resourceful by helping us decide what to do with unsellable produce from our field. We will end the session by making a collage with recycled farm materials.

Brownie –Investigation Badge – Senses – As we explore the farm we will put all five senses to work. We will challenge the scouts by asking such question as: Can you tell what a plant will produce just by looking at it or smelling it? Let’s listen to the chickens. Can you tell how they are feeling by the sound of their call? What is that smell... is that the pig forest ahead? Finally, we will use our senses of sight, smell and touch to determine what fruit or veggie is ripe for picking. We will finish the program with our sense of taste by sampling some freshly-picked produce.

Junior – Do It yourself Badge – Gardener – As we visit our Education Garden, Herb garden, and/or Flower Garden, we will explore the decision-making process of design and plant choice. Every scout will plan and plant their own mini-garden to take home.

Cadette – Healthy Living Badge – Eating for Beauty – As we explore the farm, we will see the healthy difference between organic produce and pasture-raised meat as compared to conventional factory-produced food products. We will also discuss the difference between fresh, simple foods and processed foods. All scouts will receive a list of foods that can help you have healthy skin, relieve stress and increase their energy. Afterwards, we will sample a few.

Senior – Cook Badge - Locavore – Scouts will see first-hand the source of local foods by visiting our fields to see what we do (and do not) grow.  We will discuss the benefits and challenges of “going local” by learning about our CSA (community supported agriculture). The scouts will go “shopping” in our farm stand and create a dish/meal using only local products.
